[读书笔记] 丁尼生 《尤利西斯》 节选

本杰明格雷厄姆八十岁生日爬梯上对儿孙们做了个演讲,演讲最后以这一段诗作结尾。这首诗是写老年的,不过我看了后觉得很受激励,就抄录下来以作自勉:; r5 @; C( i& g8 ?; F  ^9 K) R

. d5 ~& N1 I: @  a'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.3 z% g- l7 o) O
9 y/ u( A& O5 m& }. F6 p/ X
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
! B6 D" E3 G3 w' b* w8 S6 e - s* k1 x. d  O% z9 H. I, B
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds7 C3 ~( m) |9 e% a* i9 f

, D  p. ]8 `0 d$ F) }$ u# eTo sail beyond the sunset, and the baths" \) m* F' I, u* e3 Y

Of all the western stars,until I die.& Y) z; C% K' {( g" y: f/ \9 E

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,2 g: l6 }* w' u+ W

We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are% w6 x  V( j0 A
