本杰明格雷厄姆八十岁生日爬梯上对儿孙们做了个演讲，演讲最后以这一段诗作结尾。这首诗是写老年的，不过我看了后觉得很受激励，就抄录下来以作自勉：

8 i2 S$ l5 k0 C3 |'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

# S- @" w& D8 d9 N; p; R- x9 ~Push off, and sitting well in order smite

- A4 S" y+ S% s( E& B; c3 o2 s6 }The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds

1 ?! Y& [- q3 l, v* }! UTo sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars，until I die.

9 R! v, n7 I4 S1 W% tIt may be that the gulfs will wash us down;
/ U" _3 m" v8 d' f( _
+ m  v- C) f6 ~- rIt may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

2 b0 `! U; k, Q0 WAnd see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Though much is taken, much abides; and though

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are

One equal temper of heroic hearts，
