Pete Seeger 民谣歌手，词曲作家，上礼拜以94岁的高龄去世了。

PETE生于1919年，大学毕业后的第一份工作是到国会图书馆整理美国的乡村歌曲，去芜存菁。这份工作，使得Pete成为美国民谣音乐历史发展的创造者和最后一位见证人。和他同时代的“铅肚皮”“Woody Guthrie”“Lee Hays”那些人早已进了天堂。民谣宗师“Bob Dylon“在PETE面前只是一个小字辈。PETE不喜欢迪伦的电声歌曲，嫌他们太吵，但仍然力促唱片公司和迪伦签约。PETE最喜欢的歌手是上面的民谣三人组PPM。

Pete是一个积极参与政治的歌手，工会运动，麦卡锡恐怖，民权运动，反越战运动，环保运动，他的身影总是出现在抗议活动的舞台上。

Where have all the flowers gone 《花儿去哪儿了》是Pete的代表作之一。这是一首典型的民谣歌曲，一两把吉他伴奏，5-6段简单的歌词，软绵绵的旋律，优美的和声。就是这样一首不起眼的歌曲，在六十年代竟然成为反越战运动的招牌歌曲，PPM，迪伦，Pete自己，那些60年代的反战政治歌手都无数次上台唱过这首歌. 让我们听听Where have all the flowers gone 《花儿去哪儿了》的歌词，就不难理解其中的意味了。

据说Pete是看了肖洛霍夫的小说静静的顿河后，受到了里面几行顺口溜的启发。在静静的顿河书中，有这么几句: 花儿都去哪儿了/都被姑娘摘走了/姑娘们都去哪儿了/都嫁人了/那丈夫们都去哪儿了/男人们都当兵去了  于是Pete写出了这首歌的旋律和三段歌词：Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls have picked them everyone/Where have all the young girls gone?Gone for husbands everyone/Where have all the husbands gone?Gone for soldiers everyone. 到这里Pete写不出来了。后来这首半成品的歌传到了一个学校的，被一个counselor学会了，他把这首歌交给小孩们唱，结果被小孩们乱改词Where have all the counselors gone? Open curfew, everyone.’ 这个Counselor名字叫Joe Hickerson，也是一个歌手。他为这首歌加了两段歌词，成为了这首歌的点睛之笔：Where have all the soldiers gone?Gone to graveyards, everyone/Where have all the graveyards gone?Gone to flowers, everyone （大兵们都去哪儿了/大兵都进坟墓了/坟墓都去哪儿了/坟墓上开满了花）。这首歌终于完整了。Pete非常喜欢后面几段歌词，他把这首歌版权的20%分给了Joe。50多年过去了，Where have all the flowers gone 《花儿去哪儿了》这首歌每年的版税还有几千元。

电影阿甘正传里面有一首Pete Seeger的佳作《Turn Turn Turn》十二弦吉他的声音非常响亮


This Land is Your Land 《这是你的土地》是 Pete Seeger的好朋友Woody Guthrie 写的，Woody生前这首歌并不出名，后来经过Pete到处演唱而家喻户晓。这是Pete和Springsting在OBAMA的就职仪式上的演唱，当时Pete都80多岁了。

非常喜欢《turn turn turn》,  原来是他的作品。
十二弦吉他的声音非常响亮！是这把吧？  以前真没有特别注意过Jim的吉他，被你说了才去维基上瞧了一眼。
