Four years ago I played my last show with Chunqiu (Spring & Autumn) at the legendary Yugong Yishan in Beijing.

I really miss being in a band. It would be such a welcome addition to my life right now, too much of which is spent agonizing over the two countries I care about most, sorely disappointed in both, and despairing over the ruinous direction of the relationship between them. Seriously, it's like being the child of an acrimonious divorce between two parents who've been behaving like total jerks toward one another for a decade.

So different from Chunqiu, which was surprisingly turmoil-free, always just fun, with no "musical differences" and manageable egos.

Some more photos from last night's farewell show. We were joined, most fortunately, by two former bandmates—Ou Jianyun, now with Shanren, and Li Bo, our old bassist, who came up and played a couple of original tunes he wrote, to bid me farewell.
