前10里只有狄更斯(远大前程、Bleak House(中文译名是什么?)、大卫·科波菲尔)和萨克雷(名利场)是男作家,其他都是女的:乔治·艾略特(本名Mary Ann Evans,用男性化的笔名)、弗吉尼亚·沃尔芙、勃朗特姐妹、玛丽·雪莱。算入前20的话,也有一半是女作家的作品,加上简·奥斯汀。全部100部作品中,也有40%是女作家的作品。只有狄更斯(远大前程、Bleak House)、大卫·科波菲尔、Dombey and Son)、奥斯汀(傲慢与偏见、爱玛、Persuasion、感觉与情感)、沃尔芙(To The Lighthouse、Mrs Dalloway、The Waves、Orlando)有四部作品入选,又是两个女作家。这是相当高的女作家比例。4 T- f5 o% I: e8 {. a. ?

$ ~- W/ @, Y; B( {2 ~' j+ O呃,这里全部是英国作家的作品,而不包括英国之外的英语文学作品。这是由世界上82个文学批评家评的,其中没有英国人,纯粹是从外国人(美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、丹麦、印度)的角度来评的。很有意思的评比法。

8 x, |3 o8 j& _2 h$ v) U0 A莎士比亚不写小说啊,James Joyce应该算爱尔兰人,不能算英国人。柯南道尔肯定算,不过没有入选。

哈哈,Dracula确实对现代文学有很大影响。Harry Porter没有入选,倒是有点意外。我是不喜欢这鬼鬼怪怪的东西,但挡不住喜欢的人多啊。Middlemarch有那么好看啊,正在犹豫是不是要找来看看呢。看到评论说,不是说这本书死长,而是不够长,那看来就是很引人入胜了。
