Now this:
Anthony Scaramucci, the founder of SkyBridge Capital and an adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, said the president-elect would renegotiate America’s relationship with NATO and its trade relationship with China, in hopes of improving the economic prospects of the American middle class.
In a wide-ranging talk at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Mr. Scaramucci said he was acting as “an interpreter” of Mr. Trump and his policies. He said the media and others were misreading Mr. Trump’s goals. The president-elect was eager to work with countries around the world, Mr. Scaramucci said, but to do so on terms more in line with the realities of 2017.
Mr. Scaramucci’s comments echo those of Mr. Trump concerning the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO. Mr. Scaramucci said Mr. Trump had “tremendous respect” for world leaders, including Germany’s Angela Merkel and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
But Mr. Scaramucci said many of America’s trade deals weren’t “symmetrical” in a way that serves the country. He said many U.S. trade deals were cut in the immediate postwar period, at a time when America was seeking to stabilize countries around the world.
With World War II more than 70 years in the past, Mr. Scaramucci said, it was time to make the deals “more symmetrical” for U.S. interests. He said the “Chinese have to reach toward us” for future negotiations.
“The path to globalization leads through the U.S. worker,” said Mr. Scaramucci, saying the share of American consumption has a large percentage of world economic activity. “We do not want a trade war.”
He said Mr. Trump represented “the last great hope for globalism” because he would increase the spending the power of the middle class.
Separately Tuesday, Skybridge said it agreed to sell a majority stake in the firm to RON Transatlantic EG and HNA Capital.
I find it utterly amusing, that this guy is going to Washington, he has to unload his holding, who is doing him a favor here? |
