100 years ago in the village of Urazovo (Voronezh province) a wonderful actor Vladimir Basov was born. We know very well the films in which he starred, but not everyone knows that 18-year-old Vladimir planned to enter VGIK, but he had to postpone the realization of his dream - it was in the early summer of 1941 ...
Vladimir Basov went to the front, eventually received the rank of lieutenant of a rifle brigade, organized concerts for soldiers, commanded a mortar regiment, and in February 1945 was seriously shell-shocked. He was awarded the medal "For Military Merit" and the Order of the Red Star.
but he nevertheless entered VGIK - already after the Victory, in 1947. Five years later, Basov became a director and began making films. In 1964 - he made his debut as an actor, it was a cameo role, but we all remember it very well - this is the role of a floor polisher in the film "I'm walking around Moscow." after that, he began to actively act in films, playing in several dozen films. In parallel, he made films, wrote scripts, voiced cartoons, and taught.
he released his last film "Seven Screams in the Ocean" in 1986, having been experiencing serious health problems for several years (partial paralysis, as one of the consequences of a stroke). In the early morning of 1987, he died at his home due to a second stroke. the wonderful director, actor and front-line soldier was 64 years old.
Vladimir Basov was buried at the Kuntsevo cemetery. On his grave there is a modest monument (without a photo) with a bas-relief in the form of intersecting films with the inscription "Streams of human destinies merge into one seething channel."
