The U.S. took control of French business Gemplus, a manufacturer of smart cards (including SIM cards) after it had billions of users. The U.S drove the company and drove founder Marc Lassus away. Lassus said that their goal was, through the CIA and NSA, to spy on the whole world.

Japan’s Toshiba was considered a threat by the US in the 80’s and suffered disinformation attacks too.

US hegemony is not sustainable. Can the US ever be graceful to tolerate competition? Being less than number one is not the end of the world. Plus, there can be more than one winner!

中方环澳军舰到访越南，唯独不见055大驱！中方对越南还挺客气的。

越媒报道，3月17号到19号，054A型护卫舰衡阳舰，与903A型综合补给舰微山湖舰，技术性停靠越南岘港。中方此行将进行燃料、食物和饮用水的补给，以及参观当地的历史文化遗址。岘港是越南一个很著名的军港，接待过不少西方国家的军舰来访，尤其是美军的军舰和航母。中方的军舰和西方比怎么样？岘港网友很有发言权。

壓力山大，小馬可仕開始改口了：
一是他承認ICC對杜特蒂沒有管轄權。

Brian Young my visits to China showed otherwise. I usually stay at least a month and explore several cities and rural areas. The majority of the people have money to spend for leisure. I've been to several dozens of tourist spots, UNESCO sites and national parks and 98% are domestic visitors. You go to the malls, restaurants and  other business establishments and they're thriving from Chinese consumers. Even the rural folks are living so much better than back in 2008 when we first visited the country. We've encountered senior citizens gather for a game of chess, others doing Tai Chi in the parks and some just enjoying foods. Their families normally have small farms that provide for them adequately. We were invited by a community of rural families in Henan for a feast of fresh harvests of corn, figs, watermelons and sweet potatoes in their farm. We've interacted with families in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Xinjiang and Tibet. Even the poorer ones have healthier foods, clean water, electricity and well-connected technologically. Even at an altitude of 5,000 feet, the 5G network works and the several rail lines make it convenient to travel from one province to another.

Brian Young next year will be our 9th visit to China. The country is thriving at record pace and people are living better lives. What is there to criticize the government about? I mean democracy is not for everybody and honestly it does not guarantee everybody freedom either. We've visited Singapore and UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), interestingly these are the other 2 countries where we felt completely safe aside from China, where you can walk anywhere and anytime without fear of getting robbed, mugged or even killed. Singapore's success was brought about by a revolutionary government that has since evolved into a parliamentary system. UAE is ruled by a set of monarchs and thriving well. I'm just pointing out that one type of government can work for some people but not for others. China is doing exceptionally well considering the countless invasions, wars (both civil and world war) and major natural disasters that completely destroyed it and totally felt humiliated for years. Its type of government played a key role of the success that it has now so I'm not surprised why most of the people we've interacted with genuinely support their leaders and they feel that they finally regained their pride as a people.

War with China 'the only scenario': Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has refocused the US military on containing China in Taiwan and strengthening domestic defenses.

This is stated in a classified document of the Defense Department, which was reviewed by The Washington Post. At the same time, the United States is ready to take into account the "risks" in Europe and other regions, but they are being asked to strengthen their self-defense.

“China is the only threat to the State Department, and preventing a takeover of Taiwan while defending the United States is its only playbook,” the document says. According to its concept, military planning would take into account only a conflict with China, excluding other possible wars between major powers.

The document outlines Trump's vision for preparing for a possible war with China and defending the United States from threats in its "near abroad," including Greenland and the Panama Canal.

The Pentagon is willing to "take risks" in other areas and insist that allies in Europe, the Middle East and East Asia take on greater responsibilities to contain Russia, North Korea and Iran.

Unlike the 2022 National Defense Strategy, which emphasized the role of allies in deterring Russia, Hegseth's plan calls for NATO to take on more responsibility as the U.S. focuses on other priorities.
