The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at the Blue Ridge Parkway is our number one priority. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for COVID-19 pandemic includes social distancing, and we need the public’s cooperation to ensure our visitation patterns adhere to CDC recommendations.

If you are coming to the parkway, please adhere to the following guidance to ensure you can continue to access these places:

- Take this opportunity to visit less popular areas to allow for adequate social distancing. Visit our trails page for some great suggestions. https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/hiking.htm

- Have a back-up plan. If the trailhead you are planning to access is over-full DO NOT park outside of the designated parking area in order to access this spot. Choose one of the over 300 miles of trail on the parkway to help us disperse visitor use.  See above.

- ALL PARKWAY RESTROOMS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED. Use the restroom before you come and be sure to pack in and pack out all trash that you make while on your visit. We need your help to maintain the park's cleanliness during this time,. You can do this by being responsible for your own waste and that of your pets.

- Enjoy the parkway by taking a drive, and enjoy nature the way the parkway designers intended while maintaining appropriate distance from others.

-Visit during "off-peak" hours. The park is often the busiest between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and around sunset. Try a trip outside of these hours to find the most solitude.

We are closely monitoring COVID-19 with the federal, state, and local authorities and operating conditions for these areas may change as their guidance necessitates. Outdoor spaces remain accessible to the public in accordance with the latest health guidance.
