Yesterday, I hiked for several miles in the rain to get to this viewpoint. A calm, stillness was thick in the air as I stood looking down into the the canyon and seeing the deserted highway 140. This place is home for many of us locals that live and work in Yosemite. The Merced River Canyon is often overlooked, but for us locals it is a place where we find peace amongst the chaos. It is where many of us gather together sharing food, knowledge and stories. It is a place where we swim, hike, and laugh together. It is a place where we grow and encourage one another.
I am so blessed to call this community my home. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy and looking forward to the day where we can come together as a community once again. |
