2015-6-1 昨天姐姐从圣路易斯回来了，在朋友的热心帮助下，参观了华盛顿大学和圣路易斯大学，还看了密西西比河和圣路易斯的其它景区，非常兴奋，说学到很多东西。一起飞行的是全美艺术与写作协会管基金的老太太，前来接机的大概是她的儿子或者女婿，等飞机的时候还闲谈了半天，老太太岁数很大了，由一个空姐用轮椅给推下飞机，一路送到出站口，前宇航员因为家中有事，提前回来了，姐姐听老太太说不久前前宇航员的女儿过世了，所以就没有和姐姐坐同一班飞机，老太太说她很喜欢姐姐，要帮助姐姐出名等等。我们觉得这是客套话，可姐姐就十分当真。 姐姐说 参加会议的很多老太太，对她都很照顾。例如前宇航员，就多才多艺，是一个画家，还是电影制片人。而参赛的戏曲获奖人，前五名中有四位是黑人，一名是白人，黑人们的表演都很好，第一名得1万多块钱奖金，比画画的奖金多得多。 姐姐在会上还认识了一位诗人，是基金会某一位老太太的丈夫，是参选诺贝尔文学奖的 美国 提名人。 回到学校遇到一件恶心事，学校的老师找姐姐，说有人偷偷把她告到了美国考试委员会，问姐姐是怎么回事。姐姐说她复习考AP物理课的时候，使用了美国考试委员会的一份练习题。学校老师说没事的，别人可以用的练习题，你也就可以用，不必顾虑。姐姐猜想这可能是她一个很要好的女同学干的，因为这份练习题，是妹妹的越南同学把他在课堂上老师给的练习题，送了一份给姐姐的，姐姐考完向自己学校的物理老师推荐了这份练习题，当时这位女同学恰巧也在，就听到了，以为姐姐用的是真题，所以就冲姐姐要 这份练习题，姐姐因为前一段忙着考试又准备去开会，就没有来得及给，而且这个同学已经考完 AP课，说是考的不好，要了也没用。这个学生也是亚裔，父亲是日裔的混血，软件工程师，母亲是华裔的混血，皮肤科的大夫，家里很有钱，人长的也很漂亮，独生子女，平时娇生惯养，爱耍大小姐脾气，同学中的朋友就很少，姐姐一直把她当好朋友，拉着她一起玩，考艺术高中的时候第一年没有进来，去了地方高中，因为没朋友，第二年才又哭着喊着考进来。家长们也很熟，姐姐和妹妹练跆拳道，这个女孩也跟着过来学，所以平时都是一起玩得很好的朋友，知根知底的（这个女同学年年在桥梁比赛中得奖，都是她爸爸的杰作）。出了这事，姐姐就很生气。 我说这也是一个教训，不必太在意，你用的不是真题，而是练习题， 不会有事的。只是以后对这个女同学，多留一点心眼就是了， 但不要到处去说，更不要以牙还牙。其实国内学生的 托福 和 SAT成绩高，是和大量做考试的真题分不开的，考试委员会就那么大一个题库，每次的考题就从题库里面随机选，真题做多了，也就蒙对了。可是在美国，这就算是作弊的一种，会坏很多人尤其亚裔小孩的名声，砸不少人的饭碗，说不得的。最近美国大学开除的8000多名大陆留学生中，这类的考试作弊，就是其中的一项。 姐姐出去这几天时间，学校学生会的选举结果出来了，姐姐成功拿到了年级副班长，一人之下，数百人之上，姐姐的竞选海报，借用了美国历史上最著名的两幅招贴画，十分抢眼，外加一个她独创的宣传画，也是她的拿手好戏（她在美国青年艺术家协会的获奖作品，就是一系列的广告画）。妹妹则在全国高中法语课考试中，拿到第十八名，她的同学贾斯汀得了第一名，妹妹的同学中，排在妹妹前面的，还有两位，其中的一位是法裔，得的是第四名。我嘲笑妹妹说美国真的是没有人才了，随随便便，轻轻松松就打进全美第十八强。 最让人开心的是；姐姐前一段时间获得的美国青年艺术家的奖金给寄过来了，比原先想象的还多了500块，是一个地区特别奖，这样奖金加奖学金，还有姐姐去年暑假在癌症研究所做实习生挣的钱，把去加州艺术学院的学费，基本上就给包圆了。 下面是青年艺术家基金会，今天给姐姐送过来的伊妹儿： Hello Winners, Awards have officially been mailed! 请耐着性子读完: The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term exam. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well... Here is the "Bonus Question" on the exam: "Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?" Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added. This gives two possibilities: 1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose. 2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa (a girlfriend of mine during my Freshman year) that, "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you", and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God." THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A."
