You want two types of ammo, practice and defensive.

Practice Ammo:
Cheaper, use at range to practice. Usually full metal jacket (FMJ) Personally I prefer brass case as it tends to be cleaner and I feel it's slightly more reliable. Steel case or aluminum case ammo can be cheaper though.
For 9mm, the usual loading is 115gr or 124gr (gr = grain, measure of bullet weight).
Brands: I like Sellier & Bellot, Magtech, and Fiocchi. I usually get 115gr.
Price: Deals before the virus were around ~18 cents per round, it will probably be more expensive now.

Defensive Ammo:
Expensive, this is the stuff you keep loaded in your mags for defense. Usually hollow point (HP or JHP).
The geometry of hollow point ammo can lead to issues, so TRY IT IN YOUR GUN WITH YOUR MAGS BEFORE TRUSTING IT.
Try to keep your defensive ammo and practice ammo similar in loading, for example I use 115gr practice ammo and 115gr hollow points.
Brands: People tend to recommend Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, and Speer Gold Dot. I personally use Speer Gold Dot in my carry guns.
Price: Prices vary. Expect anywhere from ~80 cents per round to $1.50 per round.

Other Notes:
BE SAFE. STUDY THE RULES OF GUN SAFETY.
ALWAYS TREAT THE FIREARM AS IF IT IS LOADED. DO NOT POINT IT AT ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.
Buy dummy rounds ("snap caps") so you can learn how to manipulate your firearm and how it works.
Dry fire practice is important for good fundamentals. Snap caps can be good for this too. MAKE SURE THE GUN IS NOT LOADED FIRST.
For defensive use, do not buy crappy mags. Stick with OEM if possible and always make sure to try a specific magazine first with your chosen defensive load before trusting it.
Be aware of the break-in period. Run several hundred rounds through a gun and make sure it is reliable first before trusting it.

防卫安全不是你要在器材上如何碾压对方，而是要在思维，技战术上碾压对方，然后使用能最大发挥你技战术的器材。

这价格倒是公平价格。不过你若买G48， 做好心理准备：换准星，换扳机系统；我坚持了半年不换，最后还是投降，换了。换了之后枪好用太多了；这么折腾下来，首先是增加了起码150美元成本，再一个，你若对枪不熟悉，只能找枪匠来做，那就不是150了，那只是成本；其实那不是G48的问题，是Glock全线的问题。首先，那个瞄具就是大家挖苦的塑料填充物，是一套非常简陋的可用的塑料制品；扳机呐，比较松垮垮的，没有丝毫干脆利落的感觉。的确也没有错，就是不那么爽。

在G43X/G48这些轻薄系列上面，GLOCK那个烂扳机的问题变得突出了：第一是因为他们为了省钱把其他Glock枪上面的击针簧直接拿过来，后果是扳机力比标准的5.5磅扳机力更加重，我那个是6.5磅。一个更重的扳机配一个更轻的枪体，结果就是更糟糕的射击体验和精度。

所以我说你要么买10年考验的春田XDs，或者就是新的西格P365系列。若是买P365， 最好买带一个外保险的型号。普通的不带保险的型号我是不敢携带的。

若携带，4最安全，3轻巧一点

4其实是最安全的那种：双动/单动扳机，上膛以后击锤放倒，击锤簧松开，这枪没有保险，只有decocker，我不知道中文怎么叫。因为击锤簧彻底松开了，这枪是绝对打不响的，没有走火可能性，比春田用握把保险来阻挡击发机构还要安全。如果有紧急情况，拔枪就扣，那个双动扳机可以把击锤扳倒，然后击发。 当然，上面的贝雷塔92也有这个功能，但是大太多，只适合军警携带，普通人携带就太大太重了。 Sig P229本来就是中间尺寸，携带没有问题

2和4其实是一类的，都是单动/双动扳机，decocker lever

1是有握把保险

只有3最不安全，相对而言

Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:

Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.

It's always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arms length.

Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off. (I prefer the sound of a round being chambered when you load a shotgun)

The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.

The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.

Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it'll be empty.

If you're in a gun fight:

1. If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
2. If you're not loading, you should be moving,
3. If you're not moving', you're dead.

In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about? (I call it being prepared)

●You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language. AMEN!

●You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

家防了，家庭里面空间有限，AR还是不如手枪方便，特别晚上黑灯瞎火遇到紧急情况还是手枪好用。。。shotgun是必备一般都有，想玩枪的当然也可以买一把AR放在家里。。。我现在就是shotgun加大小两把手枪，小的尺寸适合便携，家防基本足够啦
