I woke up over an hour before the sun rose. I rolled around, grabbed my water bottle and found it was empty. Well, time to refill I guess.

I made my way down to the lake where I had filtered water the night previous. There was a long line of pollen right at the shore. It looked... mesmerizing. I stood there staring at it for a second, it looked so fascinating. A thick web of pollen lining the edge of the lake. I got my water from a little down stream and found myself back at this spot again.

I didn’t expect to shoot the sunrise yesterday, but something kept drawing me back to this composition. I liked the way the water looked, I liked the way the branch looked laying in the grass. I looked up where the sun would rise and it was smack dab in the middle of the frame I was imagining. Joy and excitement coursing through my veins as I run back to my tent to grab my camera and tripod. Not even 10 minutes later the sun rose over the crest of Rafferty Peak.

It felt like seeing the first firework of the day.
