How bright our galaxy shines on a dark and clear night! A view of the Milky Way scatters across the sky over Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. Photographer Cass Girvin took this photo of the Painted Wall, the highest cliff in the park, measuring about 2,250 feet from river to rim.
