王家衛
王導演喜歡折磨演員是大眾的觀感。拍攝《阿飛正傳》時，一幕與張曼玉的特寫鏡頭，竟足足NG了47次，破了Leslie從影以來的紀錄，最重要的是Leslie並不知道前面46次他錯在哪裡。
《春光乍泄》開拍前，Leslie明確表示年底要開演唱會，必須按時完成拍攝回港，王家衛誓言沒問題。去到阿根廷，因為某些原因，等了數星期還未開拍，而王家衛亦沿用一貫拍攝速度，結果嚴重超時。有說他收起Leslie的護照，不肯放人。
Leslie回港做完演唱會後，返回阿根廷十數天，補拍了一些鏡頭。有指Leslie是收了五十萬的「補水」才肯回去，傳聞指是王家衛發送這個消息。Leslie被問到有沒有收到五十萬時，激動不已，直言並無此事，並叫對方將賬目拿出來證明收過。後經記者查證，Leslie沒有收過一分一毫。
Leslie表示他當初肯接拍《春光乍泄》，是因為王家衛跟他說想用正面的角度拍一部香港人的同性戀電影。不過，後來王家衛沒有做到，他用了來自台灣的張震。
梁家輝直言覺得王家衛利用Leslie。「他利用張國榮去哄梁朝偉拍 《春光乍泄》，他們在阿根廷等了那麼久，因為偉仔未能調整好心態去演同志。」還認為他一開始就不懷好意地準備消費Leslie的私生活。
影評人及導演舒琪也曾這樣說:「如果我的理解無錯，Leslie後期不開心的原因之一，是王家衛剝削了他，他利用Leslie的個人經驗放在戲中，將他擺上枱！」
「在阿根廷拍完這部電影的時候，我再次下决心：我再也不和王家衛合作了！」這是Leslie的宣言。他後來對記者說如果有好劇本的話，會考慮再與王家衛合作，但眾所周知王家衛拍戲是從來沒有劇本的。

高志森
1994年7月，高志森想請Leslie拍戲，但當時Leslie已被安排接拍另一部電影。高志森先下手為強，以飯局為名，寫下一張支票給Leslie，稱以示誠意。
Leslie跟高志森講明，一切要交由公司決定，但事實是他並沒有檔期。但礙於情面，高志森又盛意拳拳，Leslie不好拒絕，暫且收下支票，預備擇日歸還。
豈料未幾高志森卻接受周刊訪問，指Leslie收錢不認帳，文章還刊登一張抬頭為「張國榮」的300萬支票。高志森於訪問中稱「我有權告張國榮！但我唔想玩嘢。」Leslie激動謂:「佢要告我，我歡迎！我拍十幾年戲，從來冇話俾人告，依家高志森嚟告我？講啲咁嘅嘢，簡直係垃圾。」
後來Leslie表示那張支票是假的。第一，金額應該是一百萬而不是三百萬；第二，眾人皆知Leslie是一直用「張發宗」收支票的。
Leslie在「金馬獎」輸給了謝君豪，高志森就這樣說：「算啦張國榮，邊個唔知佢識做戲，人家初出道好需要個獎，先至有機會嘛，張國榮還需要獎來做什麽？」
Leslie走後，高志森曾「爆料」Leslie跟陳百強交惡的原因，他所講的屬真屬假就不得而知。

Wong Kar-wai
Director Wong likes to torture the actors is the public perception. When filming《Days of Being Wild》, a scene with Maggie Cheung was NG 47 times, breaking the record of Leslie. More importantly, Leslie did not know where he was wrong in the previous 46 times.
Before the filming of《Happy Together》started, Leslie made it clear that he had a concert at the end of the year and the film had to be finished on time. Wong vowed that no problem. When arriving Argentina, shooting was not started until a few weeks later. Keeping Wong's usual shooting speed, there was a serious timeout as a result. It was heard that Wong kept Leslie’s passport and refused to let him go.
After finishing the concert in Hong Kong, Leslie returned to Argentina for a dozen days to make some shots. It was said that Leslie received an "overtime" payment of HKD500,000 before returning. The rumor was that Wong sent out this message. When Leslie was asked if he had received HKD500,000, he was very emotional. He emphasized no and asked Wong to take out the books of accounts to prove that he had received it. The reporters verified afterwards that Leslie did not receive anything.
Leslie said that he was willing to take《Happy Together》because Wong told him that he wanted to make a Hong Kong gay film from a positive angle. However, Wong did not do that at the end. He used Chang Chen from Taiwan.
Big Tony Leung bluntly felt that Wong was using Leslie. "He used Leslie as a tool to convince small Tony Leung to go to Argentina. They waited in Argentina for so long because Tony failed to adjust his mind to act the role." He also believed that Wong intended to consume Leslie's private life from the beginning.
A film critic and director Shu Kei also said, "If I'm correct, one of the reasons for Leslie's unhappiness is that Wong Kar-wai exploited him. He used Leslie's personal experience in the film and put him on the stage!"
"When I finished this film in Argentina, I made up my mind again: I will never work with Wong Kar-wai again!" This was Leslie's declaration. He later told the reporters that if there was a good script, he would consider cooperating with Wong. It is well known that Wong has never had a script.

Clifton Ko
In July 1994, Clifton invited Leslie to a film, but Leslie had been scheduled to take another film. Clifton, wrote Leslie a cheque in a dinner, showing that he was sincere.
Leslie told Clifton that everything had to be decided by the company, but the truth was that he really had no time to take it. However, since Leslie didn't want to reject him on the spot, he accepted the cheque for the time being with a plan to return it later.
Unexpectedly, Clifton said in a magazine interview that Leslie accepted the money without keeping his promise. The article also posted a 3-million cheque with the payee "Cheung Kwok Wing". Clifton said in his interview that "I have the right to sue Leslie Cheung! But I just don't want to do so." Knowing that, Leslie said with anger, "He wants to sue me? Welcome! I have been in this field for more than ten years, and I have never been sued. What he said is just rubbish.”
Later, Leslie said the cheque was fake. Firstly, the amount should be one million instead of three millions. Secondly, everyone knew that he had been using the name "Cheung Fat Chong" to collect cheques.
Leslie lost to Tse Kwan-ho at Golden Horse Award. Clifton said, "Who doesn't know Leslie plays well? Tse Kwan-ho needs an award to help him with opportunities. Why does Leslie need an award?"
After Leslie left, Clifton revealed the reason why Leslie and Danny Chan broke up. What he said is believable or not is unsure.
