•confirmed: this virus is not expected to be seasonal (it will not get better in the summer because of weather)
•In China they are beginning to lift some of their lockdown after 9 weeks
•in Madrid, Spain, they are taking people over 65 off of ventilators and sedating them until they die because they do not have enough.
•around 3 billion people are in lockdown worldwide
•In South Korea where they have done the most testing of any place, it looks like the actual death rate might end up being less than 1%. (However, it is higher in Italy probably both because of older population and less testing/not enough medical care - it looks like 10% if you just look at number of confirmed cases & number of confirmed deaths)
•In Italy people are not allowed to leave the house to exercise (only on their property)
•In Queens, New York, people are already dying as they wait for hospital care (not enough beds)
•Los Angeles is buying test kits from South Korea
•New Orleans, Louisiana, has the highest known rate of growth of cases in the world right now (post Mardi Gras)
•They are using refrigerated trucks in New York to store bodies from hospitals.
•People in Sweden don’t seem to be following their social distancing recommendations.
•we are not getting enough news about India and Africa (& South America?!)

South Africa has canceled all flights in and out (isolating also neighboring countries bc they usually have connecting flights in ZA)
