A calm, stillness was thick in the air as I stood looking down into the the canyon and seeing the deserted highway 140. This place is home for many of us locals that live and work in Yosemite. The Merced River Canyon is often overlooked, but for us locals it is a place where we find peace amongst the chaos. It is where many of us gather together sharing food, knowledge and stories. It is a place where we swim, hike, and laugh together. It is a place where we grow and encourage one another.
